State Cabinet announces release of 19 crores for flood victims

Srinagar, September 8: The State Cabinet here on Thursday during an emergency meeting sanctioned release of a whooping amount of 19 crores for flood victims, while as 3 months free ration for people of flood hit areas was also ordered. The ministers and senior officer of state administration who toured flood hit areas for on spot assessment of the damages submitted their reports during the meeting.
The damage assessment reports indicate that State Government requires a financial assistance of Rs400 crores for relief to the victims and compensation to farming community whose crops and apple produces have suffered heavy losses.
It has been learnt that Chief Minister asked senior officers to personally visit the flood hit area for on spot assessment of the damages and prepare reports on their own. The cabinet meeting which lasted for more than three house expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic loss of life and property in flood hit areas.
