| Farmers trained on mango products | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Aug 5: Kathua, Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua organized farmer’s training cum Demonstration Programme on “Preparation of different Products of Mango” at village Chainpura, Distt. Kathua under the able guidance of Director of Extension Education SKUAST-Jammu Dr. K.S. Rissam. The Programme was attended by more than 43 farmwomen including farmers. Dr. Amrish Vaid, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Kathua extended warm welcome to the participants. While welcoming Dr. Vaid highlighted the importance of the programme. He advised the participants to adopt value addition of different fruits like mango, citrus, anola etc. to enhance the farm income. Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat, SMS (Extension Education) narrated that Kandi belt is full of desi varieties of mango which can be used in making different products like squashes and juices. Dr. Anamika Jamwal discussed the role of women in agriculture in general and food processing in particular. Sh. Chuni Lal, Canning Instructor, Department of Horticulture, demonstrated the preparation of different products of mango. In the interaction session farmers discussed various problems faced by them regarding the crop production and plant protection. Scientists also visited farmer’s fields and attended their problems .On spot remedial measures were suggested. Their queries were satisfactorily responded by the scientific staff of KVK, Kathua. The farmers showed their keen interest in the training and requested the scientists to organize such training in the month of December. Finally, Sh. Shamsher Singh young farmer of the area thanked the scientists as well as participants.
