| Arun Malhotra to train young Jammu boys | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 5: International football player from Jammu, Arun Malhotra has decided to impart coaching among the young under-16 boys in a 10-day long training camp to be organised at University of Jammu grounds, here. Before the camp starts, Arun has invited the target football players to come for a two-day trials sessions so as to shortlist the deserving and talented beginnings of the most popular game of the world. “About 25 boys shall be picked up for the final 10-day coaching camp out of the two-day trails to be held at the University of Jammu grounds, here on August seven and August eight,” said Arun Malhotra while interacting with SAN. The interested boys have been advised to come in complete sports kit. “The reporting time for the trials is 4.15 pm sharp on August seven (Friday). I want the boys to come in full sports kit for trials, followed by the coaching classes,” informed international footballer who has to his credit silver medal in Afro-Asian Games and gold in LG Cup held in Vietnam. For extending facilities of men and material on the campus for conducting the camp, Arun thanked the University authorities, especially the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education. “I was a bit confused where to hold the camp, but the timely support and help extended to me by the JU authorities really encouragement me in my endeavor to do something for the game of football,” said Arun. On being asked about the area of focus during the camp, Arun said, “It is not possible for anyone to make beginner a player in 10 days, but sincere efforts would be made to impart basics of the game. Stress will be given on motivation, physical fitness and technique as also to inspire the young talent to aspire for the higher aims,” maintained Arun, who has a long list of achievements at the national and international level. Presently a staffer with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Arun has become first to do such an activity in Jammu. “Mostly stay outside the state, such an activity back home was my dream. So, the 10-day camp is just a beginning, more such ventures would follow in future,” disclosed Arun. It is pertinent to mention here that a regular player of J&K Bank, Arun left Jammu in 1999 to achieve higher goals. He played for the top Indian Clubs, including East Bengal and Mahindra and Mahindra to finally land in ONGC.
