EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, AUG 5: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday emphasized on closer coordination and synergy between various security forces and the state police to help maintain peace and security situation in the state in a people-friendly atmosphere. “The police measures to maintain law and order and peace should necessarily be people-friendly”, he maintained. The Chief Minister was chairing the Combined Unified Hqrs meeting here this morning. The meeting was attended by the GOC XV Corps Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh, Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur, Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, Financial Commissioner, Home, Mr. Verghese Samuel, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, ADG CRPF, Mr. Karam Vir Singh, Joint Director IB, Mr. S. K. Sinha, ADG CID, Mr. K. Rajindera, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Masood Samoon, IGP, Kashmir, Mr. Farooq Ahmad, DIG BSF and Additional Commissioner, SB. Mr. Abdullah said that government is keen to usher the state in an era of faster development and peace is imperative to carry forward works smoothly and ensure the completion of schemes in a time bound manner. “Security forces and police department have an important role in this direction”, he said and directed them to be people-friendly in every measure they take to maintain law and order and peace in the state. Mr. Omar complemented security forces and police department for conducting the Shri Amarnathji Yatra smoothly and asked them to render the same good service till the Yatra is completed in all respects. The Core Commander, the Director General of Police, ADG, CID and other heads of the security agencies gave detail briefs about various matters pertaining to the law and order and maintenance of peace in the state.
