| SRTC employees to jam wheels of state transport buses on Aug 10 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 6- After remaining silent for a couple of months, the employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), who have not been paid monthly salaries for last three months, have given an ultimatum to the state government that if their salaries were not released within next few days they would go on indefinite strike from August 10.
Holding a two hour long protest demonstration outside SRTC office at Bikram chowk the leaders of the striking employees union stated that it is very unfortunate that the agreement reached between the SRTC employees and the state government on March 23, 2008 had not been implemented in letter and spirit.
The employee leaders while showing their angst against the state government maintained that they have been waiting for their salaries for last three months but in vain. ‘We are tired of holding protest demonstrations and coming on to the roads every time to put pressure on the state government to release their salaries’, the employees’ leaders said.
The agitating women employees said that despite doling out assurances the state government has also failed to fulfill its promise of releasing salaries for the month of July as per sixth pay commission recommendations.
Meanwhile, employees leaders have warned the state government that if their demands as per the March 23, 2008 agreement were not met before August 10 they would jam the wheels of the SRTC fleet from Delhi to Leh and not allow any single vehicle to ply on the roads,
