| CUAS announces Aug 10 shutdown | | | Early Times Report Jammu, August 6: Not ready to take the assurance of Group of Ministers that work on Central University shall first begin in Jammu, the Central University Andolan Samiti, a conglomerate of various organizations, has given a Jammu shutdown call for August 10. Announcing the programme here this evening, the convener of CUAS Paviter Singh said that the call for Jammu Bandh has been supported by Trade, Transport, CCI, Retailers, and social organizations. He appealed to people particularly students organizations to observe complete but peaceful bandh. “Give immediate notification to acquire the land at Samba which already identified without any loss of time and office of Vice Chancellor of Central University along with its staff should be shifted to Samba district for the work of establishment”, Singh reiterated. Saying that two Central University in Jammu and Kashmir is impossible, he asked the government stop misleading the people and concede the general aspiration of Jammu who demanded full fledged Central University for Jammu. Refuting the allegation of Government that CUAS shy to talk to Government, the convenor said CUAS not shy to talk to Government and said that government is not giving time to discuss the government invitation within core group of CUAS.“CUAS will not let down its movement till achieve the ultimate goal of establishment of Central University in Jammu”, Singh stated. “We have no objection to of Government of India will give another Central University for Kashmir but we demand establishment of CU in Jammu, which had been sanctioned for Jammu”, he added Asserting that government trying to crackdown students and leaders of CUAS, Paviter said. He further added that they are fighting for cause of Jammu in a very peaceful manner and if government tried to create wedge and weaken the movement by going hard on CUAS leaders, they have to face dire consequences. He said that they even knock the door Court if Government harassed the students leaders.
