Mangat inaugurates 3-day Badminton championship

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 28- Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma inaugurated 3-day North-Zone Inter-State Badminton championship, organized by J&K Badminton Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, at Indoor Sports complex, M. A. Stadium here this morning.
Seven teams from J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh are participating in the championship.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Championship, Mr. Sharma appreciated the J&K Badminton Association in organizing such a type of championship in this state. He stressed for organizing more games in the state so that talent in rural and urban masses could be explored. He said our country has a huge potential in the field of games but small countries like South Korea and North Korea and so many such type of small countries take the best steps in this direction.
The Minister welcomed all the participants, their parents and coach managers. He asked the participants in the championship that introduce himself each other about the every state culture. He also stressed them to join a common platform of love, tolerance and brotherhood to take our lives better and the country. He said that every religions has its own significances which bring us out of the darkness of violent and inhumane activities.
Mr. Sharma said that Centre and State governments providing better facilities to the players for their benefit. Apart from this, many other basic facilities like funds for specialized training etc are required to be provided to them. He asked the concerned to arrange the special tours for the participants to see Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Indo-Pak borders.
Earlier, the President J&K Badminton Association, Mr. Sudershan Singh Wazir introduced the participants to Mr. Sharma.
Later, the top-ranking player Mr. Rahul Sharma took the oath ceremony of all the participants.
Among others, President J&K Olympic Association, S. Rangil Singh, General Secretary J&K Badminton Association, Mr. O. D. Sharma and General Secretary Olympic and Common Wealth Games, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma were also present on the occasion.
