| 2005 action on PP workers | | HC directs DGP, Ors to register FIR for investigation | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 07- In a petition filed by Anita Thakur General Secretary J&K National Panther Party seeking action against the alleged police officials, Justice Virender Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing today directed Director General of Police DIG Jammu and SP Jammu City that the petition be treated as representation to proceed with the matter strictly in accordance with law. The Court made it clear that if, from the allegations, prima-facie a case of cognizable offences is made out, FIR be got registered for the purpose of investigation. For any further action, if necessary, the exercise be done at the earliest and the petitioner apprised about the outcome of the investigation. The petitioner in her petition submitted that on December 22, 2005 when she was sitting on a peaceful dharna in support for the implementation of Common Minimum Program, SHO Police Station Nowabad came at the dais and started giving fist and blows; she got fainted and was taken to GMC Jammu where she was medically examined on the same day. Since she had received injuries on her head, city scan was also got done in the GMC hospital on the same day. To strength her case in this regard Advocate BB Kotwal who appeared on behalf of the petitioner placed on record photographs as well. The grievances of the petitioner is that despite the fact that she had approached the Incharge police station Nowabad for registration of the case but no action was taken by the concerned police and she knocked at the door of High Court. SSP Jammu in his reply filed through Additional Advocate General SC Gupta submitted that the date of incident is not denied but the manner in which the occurrence had taken place is denied vehemently giving all together a new complexion to the incident. He further submitted that the unlawful acts in which the petitioner was involved on the day of incident had adverse affect on her health and the petitioner had concocted a story in order to get some relief by this Court.
