| Seminar on ‘Van Mahotsav’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 7: A seminar on role of plants for better environment was held at R.P high School Bantalab by the directorate of environment ecology and remote sensing here today. Students of the school took keen interest in the seminar and expressed their views on the role of plantation in saving the environment. Students who took past in the seminar were awarded prizes by the chief guest Smt. Swarna Manhas Chairpersons of the school. R.C Sharma, Environmental soil conservationist highlighted the problems of global warming, climatic change, Green house gases arising due to pollution and deforestation. He emphasized that the existing forest should be protected and preserved and new plantations should be raised to increase the forest cover. The function was concluded by planting a plant by the chief guest and the officials of environment Deptt. School children also participated in plantation work in the school premises in order to remind them of their duties towards environment.
