Lawlessness lull breaks in JU, staff beaten, cafeteria ransacked

Jammu, Aug 7: The memories of a shootout in the corridors of Vice Chancellor are still fresh that the lull in lawlessness in the University of Jammu today once again broke with a group of students and outsiders letting loose in a Campus cafeteria causing huge damage despite presence of over 100 security men.
Security deployed in Campus was caught in slumbers Friday afternoon when students and outsiders had a field day with sharp edged weapons and making their escape well after ransacking a cafeteria. In question vigil and sincerity of the security was best judged on the day when some miscreants after shoot out in the VC Chamber, escaped from the main gate, while 108 lazy security persons disappeared just in time the incident occurred.
Repeating the show again some miscreants entered in cafeteria and after assaulting employees escaped from the main gate. Security in charge got information about the incident only when media persons sought information about the presence of security persons in the campus, speaks the volumes of the responsibility of the officer at the helm of affairs.
Ruckus prevailed when after beating employees of cafeteria miscreants broke whole furniture, and other accessories present in the premises of cafeteria and escaped. The victims were rushed to the GMC hospital where condition of the owner of cafeteria is stated critical. Terming the incident as a shameful act Dean Jammu University J S Tara assured strict action against those involved in turning the university atmosphere into battle field and added that an application to lodge complaint and removal of those who are responsible for the act has been forwarded to VC Jammu for approval.
One of the victims Bisham Padha son of Shiv Kumar Padha narrating the incident at GMC hospital informed media persons that 2 law students identified as Rajveer Singh and Amit Manhas appeared in the cafeteria with 10 other outsiders and started misbehaving with the employees when they were asked to pay the bill. He further said that sensing foul he went to them and started pacifying them but as they had came with criminal intention they put out sharp edged weapons and started assaulting them. After that they broke the window panes and ramshackle cafeteria. Terming the incident a routine, he said that just 7 days before Rajver Singh president of University Union refused to pay the bill.
