| Expedite process of setting up CU at Samba: Manjit | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 8- Demanding setting of the proposed Central University at Samba, former Minister and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sardar Manjit Singh today made it clear that people of Samba would not accept any move to shift the varsity. In a statement issued here today, Manjit Singh said that visit of Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla to Samba was a vindication of PDP stand that land for the proposed university has already been earmarked at Samba so there was no reason to create confusion. “Revenue Minister visited the proposed site and had gone through all revenue records of the land already sanctioned for the proposed university”, he said and expressed surprise “why ruling coalition is creating confusion on this issue?” Manjit Singh made it clear that people of Jammu region were not against opening of another university in any part of the State. “Our only demand is that the University already sanctioned for Jammu region be setup at the place where land has been already identified for the same purpose”, he said and lambasted the ruling coalition especially the National Conference leadership for creating confusion on this issue. The former Minister regretted that ruling NC for political gains has been playing divisive politics to divide the people on regional lines. “It is unfortunate that ministers and leaders of the ruling NC are themselves involved in dividing people on regional lines”, he regretted and cautioned the people against evil designs of the NC. He was of the opinion that NC has failed to fulfill the promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the assembly election so this party has been creating confusion on Central University issue to divert people’s attention towards a non issue which is already settled. “The only issue is to get another University for Kashmir province”, he said and asked the government to start work at Samba where the land has been already identified. Smelling a deep rooted conspiracy in raking up the issue of Central University, he said that ruling coalition has been deliberately creating confusion on this issue to hide their misdeeds. “Seven months performance of this regime is zero so government has been raking up non issue to befool the people”, he observed.
