Gandhi Nagar constituency to be developed on modern lines: Bhalla

JAMMU, AUGUST 09 -Minister for Revenue and Relief Raman Bhalla has said that coalition government is committed to uplift the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the society by providing road connectivity, health facility, drinking water, irrigation, education, electricity and ration facilities at their doorsteps. For this purpose, the Centre and State governments have provided liberal funding for completing the ongoing development works speedily within stipulated time frame.
The Minister was addressing a huge gathering at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Bhour Camp, here this afternoon.
Bhalla said that the coalition government has submitted a proposal of Rs. 25 crore for construction of Bhour Landoi nallah, soon after the approval, the work would be started for the benefit of the people. For boosting the tourists’ influx in the area, he said that government has constructed a floriculture garden at a cost of Rs. 10.77 lakh on 563 kanal land where children park, malli huts, toilets, periphery road, hydrants,reservoirs and water fall will be constructed. He said that the government has also sanctioned Rs. 4.5 crore under NABARD for construction of Jeevan Nagar-Maralian road and Rs. 28 lakh for the construction of cremation ground in the area.
Regarding compensation of acquired land from Airport to Gandigarh, he said that the amount would be disbursed among the displaced persons soon after completing the requisite formalities. For construction of span bridge over Balole nallah and protection walls, he said that the Irrigation and Flood Control department has submitted a proposal of Rs. 380.89 crore to government for funding. He directed the I&FC authorities to immediately start the work of nallah out of available funds so that the people do not face any inconvenience during rainy season. He said that most of blacktopping work in Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat and its adjoining areas are completed adding that remaining work would be completed after rainy season. For this purpose, the government has sanctioned Rs. 30 crore each for Jammu and Srinagar region.
Regarding establishment of Central University in Jammu, the Minister said that centre government has given favourable response to the proposal submitted by the coalition government for establishment of two universities in the state. He said that state government was making tireless efforts for equitable development of three regions of the state. Adding that government has also submitted a proposal for expansion of Jammu airport on the acquired additional land of 3900 sq. ft and develop it on modern lines by providing all the facilities.
Regarding desilting of Bhour Kullian nallah, the Minister said that instructions were already issued to I & FC to immediately start the work and for maintenance of creates along Bhour camp and Chatha farm nallahs especially in those areas where water from river Tawi is hitting the walls of the houses. He said that government is making all efforts to develop Gandhi Nagar constituency as a model city with well planned sewerage system.
