| Chib announces Rs one lakh for construction of Volleyball Court | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, August 09 – Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, President, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz accompanied by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Technical Education and Medical Education R. S. Chib and District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Mushtaq Ahmad today visited the residence of former District Congress Chief Late Ghulam Hassan Rather at Badroo, Yaripora, Kulgam to pay rich tributes on his first death anniversary.
Addressing a public meeting, the dignitaries described late Rather man of high principles who devoted his life for the cause of downtrodden sections of the society.
Prof. Soz said that Congress party together with National Conference is making all out efforts to herald a new era of progress and prosperity in the state, adding that the service to people will be basic edifice of this governance.
Soz said that there are many measures in the pipeline, which besides bringing relief to the people would be instrumental in their socio-economic upliftment. He asked Congress leaders to lend a helping hand to the people in redressal of their grievances.
Responding to the demands raised by locals on this occasion, R. S. Chib announced Rs one lakh for construction of Volleyball Court in the name of late Ghulam Hassan Rather. Regarding construction of Cricket Stadium in the area, the Minister assured that the matter would be examined for consideration. However, the people assured the Minister that the land for the purpose would be made available by them. He said, promotion of sports activities would be his prime focus and South Kashmir would take a lead in that direction.
Appealing people to strengthen the hands of the government for bringing prosperity in the state, Chib said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is determined to solve people’s problem in a phased manner and various concrete steps have been initiated in this direction.
The function was also addressed by MLA, Dooru, G.A. Mir and Vice President JKPCC Abdul Majid Paddar.
