| Harsh flays govt. for opposing bill seeking recognition to regional language | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: MLA and leader of the Panthers Legislature party Harsh Dev Singh has castigated the ruling NC-Cong alliance for opposing the pvt. Members Bill moved in the assembly pertained to inclusion of three important regional languages of Jammu region namely Bhaderwahi, Poonchi and Gaddi in the sixth schedule of the constitution of J&K. As per press release Harsh regretted that the coalition Govt. which had been making loud announcements of ensuing equitable treatment to all regions and of ending discrimination stood exposed by opposing the bill on the floor of the house on Friday last. Singh said that the bill was an important piece of legislation which was tabled by him in the assembly so as to ensure a fair deal to the languages including Bhaderwahi, Poonchi and Gaddi which had not been granted recognition by the state despite the fact they were spoken by lacs of people of the state particularly in Jammu region. Harsh Dev Singh had said the regional languages of the state have been specified in the Sixth schedule of the construction of J&K. The said schedule includes languages ranging from Balti to Gojri and Punjabi to Dardi but some very important regional languages have not been included in the said schedule which necessitates a suitable amendment of the said schedule for purpose of their inclusion.
