Congress more worried for CU in Kashmir, playing second fiddle to Kashmiri politicians

Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 9- The state unit of the Bharatiay Janta Party on Sunday said that they will not allow the NC-Congress coalition to tinker with the original decision of establishment of Central University in Jammu.
This was announced by the BJP Legislature Party Leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta after chairing a meeting of the party legislators at Srinagar on Sunday.
Prof. Gupta said that the controversy over the setting up of Central University is the handiwork of some leaders of Kashmir who have always given preferential treatment to certain pockets of Valley and taken Jammu and Ladakh for granted.
Targeting Congress leaders, Prof Gupta said it is very unfortunate that instead of fighting for the Central University in Jammu region the Congress Ministers and MLAs, are more worried for sanctioning of a Central University for Kashmir.
Prof. Gupta recalled that the role of the Congress has been the real cause of problems in Jammu and Kashmir right from the time of the accession of this state to Indian Union.
Even in 1952-53, agitation of the Praja Parishad, these leaders of the Congress played their dirty role and supported the controversial moves for separate Constitution, separate Flag and separate Head of the State when they elected Sadar-e-Riyasat instead of having Governor like other parts of the country.
Their double role had always been there at the time of any struggle. Even during the last year’s mass agitation over the Amarnath land row, he added. He maintained that the people should remain at guards to defeat the double role of the so-called Jammu Congress leaders and support the programmes of Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) to achieve their objective.
Meanwhile, BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, while addressing his colleagues said that the people have expressed faith in them and returned to the State Assembly. The people of Jammu elected us as they consider BJP and its leaders have concern for their cause and it is our duty to see that Jammu is not discriminated any more in any field. He said while we are raising the issue of Central University inside the assembly, our leaders and party activists are standing with the Central University Andolan Samiti. We have extended our full support to the CUAS and urge the people not to get misled by the propaganda unleashed by certain Congress leaders. He said the people of Jammu must think as to who is responsible for the controversy? Who is playing behind the scene to deprive Jammu of its right?. He said the real strength lies in unity and the people must get together to oppose any such decision which is against the interests of the Jammuites.
Taking the August 10 bandh call seriously, Ashok Khajuria later rushed to Jammu to personally oversee the party activists’ participation in the Jammu bandh. He said the he will not be attending the Budget Session tomorrow and instead remain in Jammu to boost the morale of the party activists and the CUAS.
BJP MLAs Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ch. Sukhnandan, Baldev Raj Sharma, Shyam Choudhary, Prof. Gharu Ram, Durga Dass, Jagdish Raj Sapolia and Bharat Bhushan were present in the meeting.
