| Dalai Lama arrives in Leh | | | Early Times Report Leh, Aug 9: The Buddhist spiritual leader and great Tibetan leader in exile the Dalai Lama today arrived here today on his routine summer visit. The spiritual leader shall be staying at his summer palace at Choglamsar near here.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora received the Dalai Lama at Bakula Airport, Leh. Abdullah drove the motor car of Dalai Lama personally from Airport to the summer palace of his Holiness at Choglamsar.
The large crowds of Ladakhi, including Budhists, Muslims, Christians and Hindus in their traditional dresses gave a rousing reception to Dalai Lama enrout to the palace. They were lined up on both the sides of the road holding flowers and Khatags right from Air port to Jivetsal Choglamsar.
Soon after reaching at his Palace, Dalai Lama extended thanks to the Mr. Omar and other dignitaries for giving him a warm reception. In a conversation with the Chief Minister, Dalai Lama said that he had a very friendly relationship with late Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Farooq Abdullah. His holiness said that the J&K State has a very long and bright future under the young and dynamic leadership of Mr. Omar Abdullah.
