| Ex-Minister’s sons booked for assault | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Aug 9: The Budhal Police in Rajouri district has booked two sons of former Minister and Congress leader Thakur Puran Singh for mercilessly beating up a tribal woman in their ancestral village in Kewal area of Budhal.
Police said that severely injured Rashida Begum was shifted to the District Hospital Rajouri after she sustained brutal head injuries in an early morning attack by the former Minister’s two sons. Dinesh Singh and Hirdesh Singh, two sons of former Minister Thakur Puran Singh have been booked under Section 307 for murderous assault on the woman and they were still at large, the Police said.
Giving further details, the Police sources said that the former Minister’s family had a dispute over two kanals of land in their neighbourhood in Kewal area of Budhal Tehsil. The former Minister’s sons assaulted the woman when she had come to the disputed piece of land for cutting grass for cattle early this morning.
The local villagers, sources said, shifted the injured woman to nearby main road and blocked vehicular moment for hours together. They were seeking action against the former Minister’s family. The injuried women and lifted and road cleared only when a Police team from Rajouri led by a DySP reached the spot to defuse crisis, says the eyewitnesses.
