CUAS to organize separate Independence Day function in JU

Jammu, Aug 9- After failing to break ice during its high level m eeting with Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla on Saturday evening Central University Andolan Samiti on Sunday made it clear that Jammu will remain closed on August 10 in support of the demand of opening of Central University in Jammu region.The Samiti has also threatened to hold separate Independence Day function.
After holding threadbare discussions with all other constituents of the Andolan Samiti during which they were apprised of deliberations between Revenue Minister and members of CUAS, senior member of the Andolan Samiti and President Jammu Bar Sunil Sethi told reporters here in Geeta Bhawan, that " Central University Andolan Samiti has decided to go ahead with its scheduled program of organizing Jammu bandh on August 10 and there would be no change in their stand till a proper notification was issued".
Sethi said various organizations including traders; socio- religious organizations student bodies have extended unconditional support to the call of Jammu bandh on August 10.
"We are in touch with transporters to support t he Jammu bandh call", Sethi said adding that call for Jammu bandh was given to wake up state government from its deep slumber.
"We have issued a Jammu bandh call not to score any thing but to raise common voice of the people of Jammu region", he added. Meanwhile, Sunil Sethi also announced that if the state government failed to acknowledge their demands before August 15 the Central
University Andolan Samiti would boycott all the official engagements and hold separate Independence Day celebrations inside Jammu university campus as a mark of protest.
When asked about that transporters are not supporting Jammu Bandh, he said that Samiti was in touch with the transporters and they have got reasonable assurances from them.
CUAS Convenor Paviter Singh, students leaders Suresh Ajay Magotra, Pushwinder Singh and others were also present on the occasion
