| Pisiculture in J&K brought under RKVY for central funding: Ajaz Khan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Minister for Fisheries, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Khan has said that the government is committed to increase fish production in the state to generate revenue. He said every effort would be made to exploit full potential of trout fish-culture by encouraging private sector and creating marketing avenues. Replying to a question of Mr. G. A. Mir in Legislative Assembly today, Mr. Ajaz said that Pisiculture in the state has been recently brought under the purview of centrally sponsored ‘Rashtriya kissan Vikas Yojna’ to facilitate central funding for promotion of trout fish farming in the state. He said Pisiculture was primarily agriculture related activity and the sector would be promoted by utilizing allied agriculture related incentives. The Minister said that the fisheries department has already established 06 raceways for rearing of trout fish in Veerinag and at present one more raceway is under construction which will increase the rearing capacity of the unit from 35, 000 to 45, 000, besides, department has identified site adjacent to the existing trout rearing unit, but due to the stay orders of the Hon’ble High Court Delhi, no further action in the matter could be taken. The members who asked the supllementaries incouded Mr. M. S. Naiz, Mr.Mir Saifullah, Mr. Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mr. Vikar Rasool, Mr. Nazir Gurezi, Mr. Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and Ch. Zulafkar.
