| Two Central Universities for J&K sought: Malik | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10 – State government has requested the centre to establish two central universities in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik while making a statement in the Legislative Assembly today in response to issue raised by several legislators. Malik said a delegation of ministers led by Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah alongwith Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has met the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Union Human Resources Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal urging them to set up the two central universities in the state to in view of regional aspirations. The delegation has received positive response from the Centre in this regard, he said and called for responsible approach till final decision is taken by the Centre on the matter. Mr. Malik sought cooperation of one and all on the issue and requested the political parties and leaders to desist from politicizing the issue.
