| Div Com reviews Swine flu precautionary measures | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, AUG 10 : Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal held a meeting with the officers of the Health department to discuss the precautionary measures for dealing with Swine flu in Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Director Health Services Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal Government College, Dr Rajinder Singh, Administrator GMC Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, Professor GMC Dr Jatinder Singh, Medical Superintendents and BMO’S
Dr. Kotwal said that Health department has to put in place a concrete mechanism to deal with any adverse situation arising in case of detection of swine flu in the state .He said that although there are no traces of disease in the State yet ,still all precautionary steps have to be taken to ensure that the State health machinery is well equipped to deal with the situation He said medical fraternity has a vital role to play in providing timely information to the people regarding the symptoms ,preventive measures and treatment so that they do not succumb to any rumours and also there is no panic regarding this disease.
He exhorted that public should take all precautions but at the same time should not get swayed by wrong information.
The Divisional Commissioner has asked media to play a positive role in disseminating correct information regarding the disease keeping a check on rumour mongering. He reviewed the arrangements made for testing facilities and availability of medicines for the treatment of the disease .He stressed on proper monitoring and screening of high risk patients and directed the Health department to ensure that testing and medicinal facilities are available at the district hospitals as per the prescribed guidelines.
The meeting was informed that a monitoring cell has been set up at the Airport to screen the visitors coming from outside the state.
