Bandipora Fishermen Association calls on Soz

SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Among various delegations from various parts of Kashmir a delegation of Fishermen Association of Bandipora led by Gulam Mohammad Shalla met President Pradesh Congress Committee, Prof Saifu-ud-Din Soz today. The delegation included representatives of 19 villages who reside in boats at the banks of Wullar Lake.
The delegation put-forth their demands with respect of construction of boats which have to be made from Devdar Timber, which is not available to them. They also pleaded with Prof. Soz that they should be declared backward community.
Prof. Soz gave them a patient hearing and assured them the demand regarding provision of Devdar Timber will be taken up with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the matter regarding declaring these villagers as Backward Community with the Backward Classes commission.
