| Rs.20 lakh for road upgradation in Patnitop: Nasir Aslam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, August 10 – In reply to a question of Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, MLC in Legislative Council, the Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani said that Patnitop and Sanasar are the major tourist attractions .in Jammu region He admitted that to give boost to any tourist spot, better road communication is a major requirement. The Minister said that the status of Patnitop Circular Road is blacktopped and operationalized in all weathers. Some patches are damaged and their restoration is in progress. An amount of Rs. 20.00 lakh is being spent during 2009-10 for upgradation by way of metalling, premixing/black-topping in patches and repair of side drains. The 1st to 10 KM. of Patnitop- Sanasar road have been transferred to BRO in the year 2008-09. The remaining part from KM 11th to 19th is with R&B Department. The road is all weather and blacktopped. The patchwork has already been done by R&B Department during the current year from 11th to 19th KM. The remaining part of the road from KM 1st to 10th also needs some patchworks, which is to be done by BRO soon. Mr. Wani further said that for up-gradation of roads in the Patnitop resort, a project report to the tune of Rs. 163.00 lakh has been formulated and is under examination. An amount of Rs. 20.00 lakh has been earmarked in the Annual Plan (2009-10) for the said purpose.
