POONCH, Aug 10: Annual inter-zonal under-19 (boys and girls) competitions in the disciplines of kabaddi, volleyball and kho-kho of district Poonch concluded today at Boys Higher Secondary School ground, here.
In the volleyball final, host Boys Higher Secondary School Poonch trounced HSS Chattral (Mandhar Zone) in a neck to neck contest 2-1 (25-14, 9-25, 25-7).
The kabaddi title also clinched by Poonch beating BHSS Surankote 39-27. In kho-kho final, again BHSS Poonch emerged winner outlaying BHSS Surankote by a margin of six points.
Meanwhile, in girls section, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Poonch made a clean sweep clinching all the three titles of kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball. Government Girls HSS Surankote remained runners-up in kho-kho and volleyball.
The finals were officiated by Narinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Sanjay Kumar, NH Bhatti, Narinder Singh (junior), Narjeet Singh, Devinder Singh and Bisharat Khan (all PETs).
In the finals, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Mohammad Din was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies.
Speaking to the gathering, he informed that the winner teams in the inter-zonal shall be representing the district in the inter-district competitions in near future.
