| Contractual lecturers demand regularization | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 11: Contractual lecturers working in various colleges of the region hold massive demonstration in front of nodal officer, at G.G.M Science College and demanded regularization of their services. The protestors submitted a memorandum to the principal of the college with the request that the same may be forwarded to the minister for higher education. As per press release demonstrators led by Prof. Suresh Sadotra President, Contractual lecturers association criticized the report submitted for regularization of contractual/adhoc/ consolidated employees as it does not include lecturers working in colleges despite of the fact that assurance was given by all the concerned in the quarter. The association requested the chief minister not to accept the report as it is not doing justice to all. The contractual lecturers working in colleges from 5-10 years have been ignored whereas other employees having less working experience are being regularized. The association also criticized some officers of Higher Education department for creating confusion with regard to the implementation of High Court i.e. employing contractual lecturer for at least 12 months and providing increment @ 275/- per year. The association also criticized the principals for not giving salary to contractual lecturers especially govt. degree college Udhampur where no salary is given for the last eight months. Those who addressed included Amit Sharma, Krishan Singh, Suresh Sharma, Mosmi Raina, Bindu Jamwal, Jyoti Sadotra, Chaman Lal and Arun Sharma.
