| Kashmiri Pandits demand cabinet berth in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 11- An All Party Delegation of Kashmiri Pandits today met AICC General Secretary and CWC Member, Satyavart Chaturvedi in New Delhi today and urged upon the AICC High Command for a representation to the commu7nity in the state cabinet. The delegation consisted of representatives from Panun Kashmir, J&K Vichar Manch, All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Kashmir Pandit Chamber of Commerce and Migrants Youth Forum, besides Advocates and other social activists. The delegation urged upon the Congress High Command for a representation in the State Cabinet of a Kashmiri Pandit leader in the party who has steadfastly stood with the party in all the turbulent times in the state. The representation in the cabinet from the Congress Party has become necessary as Chief Minister has categorically denied said opportunity to any of the National Conference Members. To keep the continuity of the linkages of the Kashmiri Pandit community with the Nehru- Gandhi family the Kashmiri Pandits expressed strong hope for a representation in the State Cabinet. The delegation also urged upon Congress High Command for implementation of the Prime Minister’s rehabilitation scheme and the employment component of the scheme for the unemployed. The delegation emphasized the need regarding group housing society, employment for the unemployed and other incentives for return of the community to the Valley. The delegation also condemned a whisper campaign by vested interests that Kashmiri Pandits do not wish to go back to the Valley. This is a false propaganda unleashed by vested interests and in fact, Kashmiri Pandits are yearning and longing to go back to the Valley provided the conducive atmosphere is created for their safe return.
