| Delayed Monsoon | | PDP demands compensation for farmers | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 11- Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party today asked the authorities to identity the areas affected by the delayed monsoon so as to declare these areas as draught prone. Addressing a meeting of the party workers at Marh, general secretary of party Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that authorities have not taken any step to compensate the farmers affected by the delayed monsoon. He said that farmers of most parts of Jammu region have suffered due to delay in monsoon so authorities must take some concrete step to solve problems of these farmers. He especially mentioned that paddy growers are the worst victim of the delay in monsoon. Terming the Congress-National Conference regime as total failure on all fronts, he exhorted the party workers to expose misdeeds of this coalition before the masses. PDP reiterated its commitment to fill the political vacuum created after opportunist alliance between Congress and NC. He said that except increasing miseries of the masses new coalition has done nothing to solve problems of the masses. He said that Congress-National Conference coalition has been functioning without any program and policies. He reminded the people that during the assembly elections the NC had promised to recruit 8th pass youth in the police but after attaining power the power has maintained a criminal silence on this promise. He further recalled that all senior NC leaders, during election campaign, had also promised to provide allowances to educated unemployed youth of the state. Pointing towards the budget present by the coalition regime, he regretted government has not provided any relief to the farmers and unemployed youth. Senior PDP leader Thakur Suram Singh, who organized this meeting, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted local problems. K K Sharma, Mohammad Shafti, Kanaya Singh, Ravinder Singh, Darshan Singh, Vikram Singh and others also addressed the meeting.
