| Dy CM proposes land bank for housing colonies | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11 –Assuring that allottees of the un-built housing plots in government housing colonies would be provided every possible assistance to enable them start construction works, the Deputy Chief Minister who is also Chairman of the J&K Housing Board today directed the Managing Director to facilitate such allottees in getting bank loans and house building permission from Municipal Corporations quickly.
“Allottees who are willing to start construction on their hitherto un-build residential plots in government housing colonies should not be put to any difficulty for getting house building permission and housing loans from Banks”, the Deputy Chief Minister said while chairing a meeting convened here today to review status of various Housing Colonies developed in Jammu by J&K Housing Board. He said government would consider to extend last date fixed by the government to start construction on un-built residential plots beyond September 16th in such cases who could not start construction due to genuine reasons including house building permission from concerned quarters.
The Minister for Revenue, Mr. Raman Bhalla, Managing Director, J&K Housing Board, Mr. Ishtaq Ahmad, Deputy Secretary Housing Board, Mr. Ram Paul Sharma and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Pertinent to mention, government has given a deadline of September 16 for starting construction over un built residential plots in government housing Colonies failing which allotments of such plots are bound to be cancelled.
The meeting was convened on the insistence of Revenue Minister with the objective to solve problems of allottees of residential plots in government Housing colonies particularly in housing colony Channi Himmat, Jammu.
Deputy Chief Minister said that government would in no case allow sale of housing plots in government Housing Colonies by land mafia adding that the officers and officials found indulging in such malpractices shall have to face stringent action. He asked the concerned officers to bring more transparency in the working of Housing Board to improve its image among the masses.
Mr. Tara Chand directed the Managing Director to further simplify norms for granting free-hold rights to the genuine lease holders adding that possibilities should be explored that premium fixed by the Board @ of Rs 20 per Sft for this purpose is recovered in installments for convenience of the allottees.
The Deputy Chief Minister asked the Managing Director to extend the lease period in favour of those allottees who have started construction of their residential houses even up to plinth level so that they can get housing loans without any difficulty.
Responding to the demand of the Revenue Minister to improve the basic facilities in the Housing Colony, Channi Himmat, the Minister assured to provide sufficient funds for the purpose and directed the MD to prepare detailed estimates for the works of immediate public importance needed to be executed in the colony. He said that he would himself along with the concerned officer shortly conduct extensive visit to various Housing Colonies in Jammu including Channi Himmat and Patoli to have on the spot assessment of the problems confronting people there. He directed the Managing Director to allot available land strips to genuine allottees with the condition that the strips are developed as green patches. This would add to the aesthetic ambiance in the colonies.
