| Rs 1215 Cr spent on power projects | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11- Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, 11 power projects are under execution in the State. These include 5 in State sector and 6 in Central sector. Replying to a question by Harsdev Singh in Legislative Assembly, Mr. Omar Abdullah said that the work on power projects under State sector which include ACA to Baglihar HEP (450MW), Access road to Sawlakote HEP, Transmission and distribution line, 220KV-Srinagar-Leh Transmission Line and Ramban-Damkund Road (22kms) is going on satisfactory. While as the work on 3 power projects under Central sector which include Uri-II HEP (240MW), Numo Bazgo HEP (45MW) and Chutak HEP (44MW) is also going on satisfactory being executed through NHPC. He said that state government has not any role on the execution of these projects. However, the slow pace of execution of power projects of Bursar HEP (1020MW), Pokal Dul HEP (1000MW) and Kishan Ganga HEP (330MW) have been taken up with Union Ministry for Power. Earlier, Minister of State for Power, Mr. Shabir Khan while replying to the main question, informed the House that the Central government has not refused to release full amount of power reform grant to the state. He gave detailed account of the outstanding payments of power tariff pending with different departments, adding that steps are being taken to recover these arrears alongwith regular payment. The minister said that the central government has released Rs. 1523 crore under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan up to June 2009. Out of which Rs. 1215.71crore have incurred on the augmentation of power projects besides upgradation of other power infrastructure during the period in the state. Mr. Shabir said that Central government launched Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Viduyati Karan Yojana (RGGVY) scheme in April 2005 throughout the country to electrify all un-electrified villages and hamlets in the country and added that the scheme is also reflected in Prime Minister’s package. He said under this scheme various works have been taken up for the execution in the district of Udhampur, Kathua, Jammu, Leh and Kargil through NHPC on turnkey basis. He said that in other districts the tendering process has been either completed or is under process. The Minister said that till May 2009, 309 villages and 9525 hamlets of the state were un-electrified besides 315976 household of BPL category were also to be electrified under the scheme. He said under the scheme Rs. 783 crore were sanctioned by Central government, out of which Rs. 393 crore have been expended for the electrification of the un-electrified areas in the state. The Minister said that Rs. 51.07 crore have been incurred by 2009 for electrification of 4017 BPL households besides 4 un-electrified villages in district Udhampur. Giving details for establishment of Grid Stations in the State under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, the Minister informed the House that 11 Grid Stations are being established in the State which include Grid Station, Budgam, Mirbazar, Amargarh, Alestang, Magam, Khanmouh, Tether, Shopian, Wilgam, Bandipora and Sogam. However, he said that 1x50 MVA-132/33KV, Grid Station is under construction at Battal, Manwal in tehsil Majalta in Ramnagar constituency.
