| HC issues notice to Div Com Kashmir, others on petrol pump issue | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 28 - Taking cognizance of a report carried by Srinagar daily Greater Kashmir alleging that a number of petrol pumps have come up in residential areas in violation of Srinagar Master Plan, and registering the report as a Public Interest Litigation, the Division Bench of J&K High Court comprising Chief Justice, Justice B. A. Khan and Judge Justice B. A. Kirmani have issued the notice to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Chief Town Planner Srinagar, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Nodal Officers of oil companies to respond to the allegations made within two weeks from receipt of court notice. The report carried in the daily alleges that no objection has been granted by various authorities in breach of rules to allow petrol pumps in residential areas, so much so Senior Town Planner had also drawn the attention of the Municipal Corporation towards this situation but the government had failed to take any action in the matter and had allowed these petrol pumps in areas like Khanyar, Karanagar, Babademb, Habbak, Zakura etc, likely to constitute a threat to property and human life, the report has added and court taken notice of. |
