KPs confused over job package in budget
8/12/2009 10:36:42 PM
CHAMAN KAUL:
JAMMU, AUGUST 12: Instead of expressing happiness upon the announcement of 15000 jobs in government sector for Kashmiri Pandits (KP), members of community are in a state of confusion.. As 10,000 posts announced by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his visit to state last year remains still unimplemented and various Pandit organizations claim that announcement is the sweet fruit of their long struggle which they launched for getting 6000 government jobs and 9,000 jobs in government undertaking or private sector.
With this developing situation aspirants from the community feel that announcement made by Finance Minister in his budget speech seems to be merely an eye wash and the pre-condition that jobs will be given only to those who will return back to Valley confirms their doubts. “on the one hand government is constructing residential tenements for the Kashmiri Hindus in Jagti and on the other hand successive government for the last twenty years are leaving no stone unturned (verbally) for the returning of KPs to their native land. Similar confusion is being raised for the employment package with every passing day” said Sunil Bhat a post graduate aspirant.
Meanwhile efforts were made to clear the confusion by reaching out to finance minister and commissioner secretary , but could not be reached.
However, President Youth Wing All India Kashmiri Samaj (YWAIKS) R. K Bhat said that during his visit to civil secretariat along with his party activists during ‘Srinagar Challo’ call, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather and Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) Basharat Dar informed the delegation that 6000, government jobs, 9000 jobs in government undertaking companies and loans with lesser interest will be given to the displaced community aspirants. Moreover, Bhat informed that it is not yet clear that what modalities the government has framed and followed. He expressed expectations that within a day or two things will be cleared as the party activists and Bhat him self is pursuing the issue.
“It is not possible for KP boys and girls to go to valley and do a job till the situation over there becomes conducive. Thins have changed a lot and so had changed the mind set of people in the last twenty years” said Jawahar Lal Koul and added that if government really serious about the future of unemployed educated youth then they should provide them job in Jammu division till Valley becomes safe place for them and then shift them to there.
