Jammu, Aug 12- Strongly condemning the brutal lathi charge on the government employees in Srinagar today, the BJP State President Ashok Khajuria has said use of force to suppress their voice can’t be termed as a healthy trend in a democracy.
Khajuria said that the employees were demanding removal of anomalies in 6th Pay Commission and implementation of its recommendations in toto. He said the employees did not commit any crime by making such demand and the use of force to suppress their voice can not be termed as a healthy trend in a democracy. Not only has this, the state employees of different departments in whole of state have been struggling hard to get what they deserve but no one cared. Only hollow assurances are given to them but in practical no concrete steps have been taken to meet their long pending demands, said Khajuria.
Khajuria said the present NC-Congress coalition in the state is no different from its predecessor PDP-Congress coalition, which misled the people on the hollow promises of giving job to at least one member in each family. This NC-Congress coalition too has no concern for the unemployed youth or those in government service. While the highly educated unemployed youth are agitating for providing jobs, those engaged under daily wages, contractual or adhoc basis are sitting on dharnas for last months for their regularization. Instead of taking effective steps to resolve the genuine demands of the employees, this government has canes in its kitty for them, alleged Ashok Khajuria.
The BJP Chief said that lathicharge is no solution to the genuine demand of the employees adding that the government should not test the patience of the employees. He assured the agitating employees and the unemployed youth of the state that BJP is with them and will always raise their voice in and outside the Assembly.
