| Year-old girl latest suspect in Jammu, H1N1 positive case responding effectively | | 14 more samples lifted; panic prevails in town | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 12: Even as Jammu’s only H1N1 positive patient is reported to be recovering fast after being timely put to medication, the latest suspect to have reported the Government Medical College Hospital here is a one-year old girl child. Meanwhile blood samples of 14 more swine flu suspects have been lifted and sent for examination to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases at New Delhi. Reports of four suspects whose blood samples were sent to NICD on Monday are yet to be received at the GMC Hospital, said the hospital authorities. In related developments, many private companies operation in Jammu, particularly telecommunication operators, have suspended training schedules of their staff outside state as a precautionary measure to prevent the swine flue infection. The transport and tourism sector too has reported bulk cancellation of tour bookings of the locals to outside state under the scare of flu outbreak. Sources at the GMC hospital said that a year old girl child was today brought to the hospital with swine flu symptoms. She was put to preliminary examination at the GMC and her samples were collected for examination at the NICD. The girl child has been quarantined at her home and put to some precautionary treatment till reports are received from NICD. Incidentally, the girl child reported with swine fly symptoms belongs to the family in Nanak Nagar where the Jammu’s only H1N1 positive tested patient lives as tenant. Sources said that the minor girl had earlier been in constant touch with the elder girl who had later tested positive. Doctors of SMGS hospital informed that for the time being kid has been sent home while as hospital administration is making all arrangements to admit the child if found positive. Speaking to reporter Medical Superintendent of GMC hospital Dr Romesh Gupta said that a doctor’s team for swine flu checkup headed by Dr. Bharat Bushan has been constituted while as a team of four doctors has been constituted for screening patients between 9AM and 12 PM. The day after one swine flue case was detected in Jammu rush for medical check up has erupted. The average of OPD patients is estimated from 50 to 40 per day, he maintained. Meanwhile the girl who was found positive has been responding to the treatment effectively. She was sent to her home with the instructions to her parents to keep her in an isolated room. Today she was called to hospital for treatment where doctors confirmed her positive response to treatment. “She was called by doctors today and after checkup found responding. Tomorrow is the fifth and last day of her treatment” Medical Superintendent GMC hospital informed. The reports of four more suspects have been received negative. Fearing the swine flue ghost people of Jammu and Kashmir have cancelled their journey to other states even government as well as private employees is hesitating to visit the other states. As per transport agencies many reservations have been cancelled after the fear of swine flue.
