| SPMR College to have MBA, MCA: Malik | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, AUGUST 13 :- The state’s only and one of the oldest institutions, Commerce College Jammu would soon have Master’s degree In Management and Computer Applications courses.
Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik said this during an interaction session with the staff and students of the Commerce College here today.
Director Colleges Prof N D Wani and Principal of the college Prof. Hemla Aggarwal were also present during the interaction session where, issues regarding physical and academic upgradation of the institution were discussed threadbare.
Asking the college management to complete the procedural formalities well in advance, the Minister said that government was keen to start the prestigious courses with no further delay. He also asked the principal to furnish the proposals for the additional infrastructure and man power, that institution requires for existing and starting up with the new courses.
Minister said that the government was keen to make the institutions which have historical bearing and enjoy the status of educational heritage of the state, as model for the new and up coming institutions.
He said owing to their long experience, the staff of these institutions could also provide a vision to the state for framing a potential policy for competing at national and international level. He said “the time has come when we have to come out of the old practices in every filed including education”. He said there was an impending need to introduce IT in management if the state wants to keep pace with the rest of the country.
