Krishan Janamashthmi ‘Shoba Yatra’ taken out in Jammu

Amidst tight security arrangements Lord Krishan Janamashthmi Shoba Yatra was taken out in the temple city here today.
Thousands of devotees including a large number of women and children belonging to Hindu community participated in this religious procession which commenced from the historic Raghunath Temple situated at the heart of the city this afternoon.
The famous temple of the town remained the hub of religious activities throughout the day. A large number of social and religious activists including those from Dharamarth Trust, Vishav Hindu Parishad, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena and Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association took active participation in the event.
The highly decorated chariot of Lord Krishna attracted the religious gathering today. The people following the chariot and others dragging it were chanting religious songs. The drum beaters, long queues of band party members in the their traditional dress were the source of inspirations to the thousands of people who were singing and dancing on the tunes. Several trolleys had been decorated with tableaus onboardin today’s Shoba Yatra and the students of various schools took active participation.
The main Raghunath Bazar, as usual, was well decorated by the market’s Businessmen Association. The Shoba Yatra commenced at around 4 PM and after passing through R N Bazar, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazar, Pacca Danga and Parade Ground finally culminated at the place of its origin late in the evening.
A large number of Dogras were today witnessed in their traditional white ‘Dogra dress’ including turban. Raghunath Bazar Association,on the eve of its Silver Jubilee year showed great enthusiasm in their participation in the programme. Students from Sanatan Dharam School, Rahari and Mubarik Mandi participated in the programme.
Senior Police and Civil officials in view of the threat perceptions, had made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. Additional police and para-military forces had been deployed at the crucial city points. Several city entry and exit points had fully sealed.
Earlier, the Trustee member of the Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust, Maharaj Kumar Ajatshatru Singh performed the Pooja at Shri Raghunathji temple together with president of the Trust Th. Divakar Singh and the members of the Royal Family. A large number of devotees including pilgrims were also present on the occasion.
