Self- rule suicidal says Rehman
People should not to fall in the trap of false propaganda
9/28/2006 10:40:20 PM

JAMMU SEPT-28-Lashing out at the Peoples Democratic Party for its false propaganda about the demand of Self Rule and demilitarization as advocated by Pak President, Samajwadi Party President Sheikh Abdullah Rehman has said that the demands if acceded to by the Centre would be suicidal and detrimental for the people of the state, who are already facing the brunt of militancy and terrorism.
‘The recent visits of PDP leaders to Jammu and their assertions that the self rule would fulfill the aspiration of Jammuites, should be seen as a game plan of the party to wean the support of Jammuites by dogging and exploiting them on this issue, while in Kashmir valley they have emphasized more on demilitarization for obvious reasons’, Sheikh added.
Addressing district and block level workers at a meeting at party headquarters here, the SP Chief has asked people not to fall trapped in the false propaganda about the demand of self rule as made by the former Chief Minister and patron of PDP Mufti Mohammed Sayed.
Referring to the NC’s demand for greater autonomy, Sheikh said that in fact Dr. Farooq wants autonomy for himself and not for the state adding that he (Farooq) should have mustered courage to step down as Chief Minister when the Vajpayee Government at the Centre turned down the resolution passed by the State Assembly.
Sheikh has warned the people of Jammu region against the Hurriyat Conference and separatists and their hand picked agents in Jammu, who with a view to furthering their agenda, are indulging in luring the people of this region by extending all sorts of false, vague and uncalled for assurances.
The SP Chief announced that Mahila Adhikar Samiti would organize a protest rally and dharna in front of Divisional Commissioner’s office at Mubarak Mandi here on October 4 under the leadership of Depender Kour Convener of the Samiti in support of its demands. This will be followed by a dharna on October 9 to impress upon the government to declare Marh, Kotbalwal, Nagrota and Vijaypur as full-fledged Tehsils in Jammu, as already demanded by the party.
Ram Prakash Sharma, Sheikh Mohammed Shafi, Sham Lal Mahasha, Dr Shiv Lal Sharma, Hakeem Bodh Raj , Deepender Kour and Preeto Devi were also present.
