| Following freedom fighter’s ethics more relevant today- Slathia | | | Early Times Report Samba, Aug 15- Minister for Industries and Commerce, S. S. Slathia unfurled the National tricolor and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents from police, NCC and students of schools and colleges here today. Necessitating the relevance of celebrating such occasions in present time, the minister appealed the people to imbibe in themselves the high ethics of great freedom fighters and leaders who sacrificed their precious lives for the sake of nation which will be a real tribute to them. He paid rich tributes to the martyrs of freedom struggle and recalled their great services. He said that pledge of Omar Abdullah of making J&K a kush-haal state can only be realized if the people realize their rights and responsibilities in a right perspective. He said that to provide justice to all, is the prime concern of Omar Abdullah led government. Slathia lauded the people of J&K for upholding the dignity of secularism, communal harmony and brotherhood even in tumultuous period of over two decades which is also an essential requirement for the sovereignty of a nation. He said that state has entered a new era of progress and prosperity but still there are numerous challenges to which the government and people have to respond unitedly. Expressing concern over unemployment in the state, the Minister extolled that Omar Abdullah is laying particular emphasis on absorbing educated youth in government self employment ventures. He said that government is concentrating on providing basic amenities to all remote and far-off pockets of the state. The minister said that Samba being an industrial area with vast tourism potential deserves all attention of the government and efforts are afoot to develop the district as a self-reliant one. The students presented a mesmerizing cultural bonanza. DDC Samba, Saurabh Bhagat presented mementoes to the Minister and the MLAs. Later, the Minister honoured the winners of the programme and meritorious students of the district.
