| Unique tribute to Dogri poetry, music | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 15- Dogras have a reason to celebrate the 63rd year of Independence with a unique pride. For the first time a book of Dogri poems translated into English shall be released on an international platform. Tale of a Virgin River, a collection of thirty Dogri poems of Sahitya Akademi Award winner Yash Sharma shall be launched in Singapore, on August 21, 2009 at a special ceremony by Prof Sukh Deo Muni, a former Indian Ambassador to Laos and presently a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies, Singapore, in the midst of a mixed audience of a dozen different nationalities. The release of the book shall be followed by a live concert of Dogri music by Seema Anil Sehgal, renowned singer and composer from Jammu and Kashmir. The book has been rendered from Dogri into English by Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal, a former officer of the Indian Air Force, writer and producer of some of the most respected music albums. It carries a Foreword by Dr Karan Singh, renowned thinker, parliamentarian and former maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir. The book is, in fact, a comprehensive guide to the poetry and music of Dogri language. A specially recorded Dogri music audio compact disc is supplied with the book. The music CD contains six songs penned by Yash Sharma, composed by her illustrious daughter Seema Anil Sehgal. The songs have been evocatively sung by Seema and her son Kartikey Anil Sehgal, a budding film maker, lyricist and composer. The book is slated for a four -city - launch in India later this year before specially designed launches in London, New York and Houston. The Indian cities are Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, and, of course, Jammu.
