| Shastri demands raising income tax exemption limit to Rs.3 lakhs | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 16 - National Mazdoor Conference, President, Subash Shastri has urged upon the Finance Minister to raise the income tax exemption limit to Rs three lakhs in view of steep rise in the prices of essential commodities.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally at Brahman Sabha here today, Shastri said that with price rise and inflation the very salaried class is facing a lot of economic hardships, adding that raising income tax exemption from 1.60 lakh to 3 lakh would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them.
Shastri has also appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to regularize the services of all Daily wagers, casual labour of the state government. He said the committee constituted by the government for the purpose should be asked to submit its final report at the earliest.
Shastri said that the daily rated workers are neither getting there wages regularly nor they had been regularized for last many years which call for immediate measures for improving their working conditions. .
Shastri also hailed the decision of the State Government to release 6% D.A. and enhance the wages of daily wagers from Rs. 70 to Rs. 110 per day.
Pleading the cause of clerical staff, Shastri further urged Abdullah to intervene personally and ensure that all the anomalies in the SRO-93 are removed so that all sections of the salaried class are benefited optimally from the implementation of 6th Pay Commission in Jammu and Kashmir. He also demanded that the arrears on account of 6th Pay Commission implementation be released in two installments.
