Jammu, Aug 16: Assailing the policies Congress led UPA government at the centre, BJP legislature party chief Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that quite callous situation has been created to tackle the menace of cross border terror. On one hand the infiltration of trained terrorists also smuggling of weapons, explosives and other contrabands is coming on the other hand sweets and pleasantries are being exchanged not only at the international border at from the line of control leaving the common man confused, he said.
These observations were made by Prof. Gupta while addressing a gathering at a border village of Kaleeth in Chhamb Sector here today. The resorts, he said, are pouring in day in and day out but the infiltrations attempts are going on. Many people get killed in encounters and attacks. In addition to fake currency, large amount of Hawala money, heroin worth cross and the infrastructure of cross border terror is intact. But still certain leaders are getting eager to extend a hand of friendship ignoring all the solemn pledges in and outside the parliament, he added.
Prof. Gupta also expressed surprise over the uncalled for statement of the prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh that special status granted to Kashmir, would continue. He said this so called special status of this state has come to be a big problem for the people of Jammu and Kashmir on many accounts. Their democratic rights have been scuttled and many evils including that of the separatism and anti-national activities are getting boost. The confusion created over the opening of central university (CU) in Samba areas of Jammu is the latest example of the regional bias against Jammu.
Prof. Gupta also pointed out that because of unchecked powers to the ruling lead of the state are resulting in abuse of central funds and problems facing the common man are getting compounded, so much so the drinking water, electricity and even the ratios have become same and the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and increasing unemployment have made the life miserable.
He praised the patriotism of the people of border areas especially those of Chhamb sector who have been at the receiving end to face many invasions of Pakistan and have been extended their helping hand to the Indian Army during the troubled days.
