SPO lays down life while fighting with militants
Militant shot dead, two others injured, two arrested

JAMMU SEPT-28- A HM militant was shot dead, two others arrested and two injured in two separate incidents, while a SPO lost his life in an encounter and another sustained injuries.
According to a police spokesman, one militant of HM outfit identified as Roshan Din resident of Dessa Sumber in Ramban was killed in an encounter with SPO post Barmal at Dessa Nallh Sumber falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramban. One AK 47 and two AK magazines were recovered from the slain militant.
In another incident, a SPO lost his life and another sustained injuries in an encounter with the militants in which two militants also suffered injuries. The injured SPO was airlifted to GMC Hospital here.
The spokesman said Police/NCA launched a joint operation in general area at Simble Morh under the jurisdiction of Police station Mahore Udhampur. During search operation, an encounter took place between the search party and the militants in which one SPO identified as Jagbir Singh NO 399/SPO sacrificed his life and Gulzar Ahmed NO 123/SPO suffered injuries. The injured has been airlifted to GMC Hospital here.
In the ensuing gunfight, two militants were also injured, who managed to escape taking advantage of thick forests. The search operation in the area was in progress when the reports last came in.
In the meantime, Police today arrested a militant in Ramsoo area in Doda district and recovered some ammunition from his possession.
According to reports, on a tip off, 23 RR and Ramsoo Police raided a dhok in upper reaches in Ramsoo area and arrested one militant identified as Ghulam Mustafa son of Mohammed Ibrahim of Sarangal Banihal He was affiliated to HM militant outfit.
On search, the forces recovered one pistol, a magazine, eight rounds and three hand grenades from his possession.
The militant has been shifted to Ramsoo Police station for interrogation. During the preliminary investigation, the arrested militant told the police that he was kidnapped by some militants some months back and taken to upper reaches.
However, the sources, said that the elder brother of the arrested militant, Mohammed Iqbal, also a HM militant, had surrendered some eight months back and after his surrender, the militants kidnapped his younger brother. The police are investigating into the matter.
A Defence spokesman said that a HUJI militant identified as Mohammed Rafique son of Fateh Gujjar of Angral was arrested by the JKP and the joint column late last night and handed over to Police for interrogation. He is reported to have joined the militants’ ranks in June 2003 and was affiliated to HUJI outfit.
The spokesman said that based on suspicion, STF apprehended four persons identified as 22 year Mohammed Farooq and 24 year Samajdin sons of Ghulama resident of Jamslan, 45 year Abdul Hamid and 70 year Ghulama both residents of Simli. Operation in the area was reportedly still in progress, the spokesman added.
The reports further said that an OGW was apprehended in Kiwa area. Identified as Salamdin son of Sadique Ali of Kiwas was working for HM militant outfit.
