Jammu, Aug 17: Stepping up the drive against the use of polythene carry bags within the municipal limits banned by the state government under SRO-182 of 2009, the commissioner, Jammu municipal corporation alongwith chief enforcement officer and field staff made a surprise check of the areas like Gumat, Vinayak Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Nai Basti, and Trikuta Nagar Extn, and seized about 40 kg of polythene carry bags from shops/ rehries and other outlets.
During the inspections 19 challans were field and Rs 4200/- was charged as the fine from the defaulters for using the polythene carry bags. The sanitation wing also during the drive filed 20 nos of challans against the defaulters for creating insanitary conditions and challaned 10 cases for violating the provisions of PFA act 1954.
