| Govt. toying with sentiments of pensioners | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, AUGUST 18: In another bizarre act of mockery committed by government vide advertisement NO: DIP/J:2940, which appeared in almost in all local dailies, saying that revised pay structure for state government employees and pensioners has been implemented broadly on the pattern of Central Government employees. But matter of fact is that all provisions of Sixth Pay Commission have not been implemented by the government in favor of pensioners. Government claim of having paid revised pension to state pensioners from the month of July last is miles away from the truth. “Implementation of SRO 94 is detrimental to the interests of the state pensioners as rate of pension gets reduced for those who had retired prior to 1. 1 2006” said Govind Ram a pensioners. It is pertinent to mention that on the one hand a bill is being introduced in LA for the hike of salaries of legislators by 100 percent and on the other hand the govt says, it is far beyond its means to concede the justified demands of employees as per the advertisement. Besides, government is half hearted about the arrears with regards to release of 6 percent from January 1st and hints about the payments of cash from July month and pensioners could not understand that what about the first six months from January to June. “Pensioners could not fight for their legitimate rights by coming down to roads and streets due to their pathetic health conditions and age. Government knowing the fact is taking state pensioners for granted, forgetting that those who are enjoying power of chair today has to retire tomorrow and become pensioner” said Govind Ram.
