| Chopra murder case | | HC asks why case not handed over to CBI | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug18- In the much publicized murder case of RB Chopra and his family members on September 18, 2006, Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir of J&K High Court today directed Additional Advocate General S C Gupta to file the status report and also indicate why the matter was not entrusted to CBI despite issuance of Government order, before the next date of hearing. This direction was passed in a petition filed by son of late RB Chopra. After hearing Advocate DS Thakur and Advocate Pranav Kohli appearing for the petitioner Puneet Chopra and Additional Advocate General SC Gupta appearing for the state respondents, Justice Mir observed that Additional Advocate General has placed on record copy of Government Order dated August 11, 2009 whereby the Special Investigation Team has been constituted whereas the Advocates for the petitioner stated at the bar that the Government has issued notification entrusting the case to the CBI for investigation. They further stated at Bar that in terms of the order dated April 2, 2009, the respondents were directed to file status report along with the transcript of Narco Analysis Test, if any conducted in the sealed cover, but they have failed to do so. Additional Advocate General stated that he has already submitted that transcript of Narco Analysis Test along with the status report. Upon this Court asked the Registry to report whether transcript of Narco Analysis Test has been filed or not. On the direction of the High Court a Special Team has been constituted vide order August 11, 2009. According to this order Mumtaz Ahmed SP South, Sandeep Mehta Dy SP SDPO City East, Pritam Singh Jamwal Dy SP DSB Jammu, SI Daulat Khan of P/S Trikuta Nagar, SI Sat Pal of P/S Gandhi Nagar, ASI Sewa Ram P/S Nowabad and Head Constable Onkar Singh and Balbir Singh was included in the SIT for investigation of the case FIR NO 107/2006 u/s 302/396 RPC P/S Bahu Fort Jammu. It is worthwhile to mention here that in the month of July Additional Advocate General SC Gupta had informed the High Court that a new supervisory officer of the rank of IGP has been made Incharge of the case.
