| JSM reiterates demand for Separate ‘Jammu state’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 19- Welcoming the statement of Abdul Rashid MLA Langate on the floor of the House that there was no objection in creation of separate Jammu state provided it is not on communal lines, the Jammu State Morcha has called upon the Jammu based legislators to rise to the occasion and forcefully take up this demand at different foras. . The Morcha in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of its President, Prof. Virender Gupta while hailing the statement reiterated its demand for separate statehood for Jammu and maintained that even Sajjad Lone had also endorsed the division of the present J&K state into three regions. The Morcha said the bogey of communal division for Jammu State has only been raised by the PDP and NC for their petty political gains. Taking strong exception to the propaganda of these political parties the JSM has cautioned the people not to be misled by this vicious propaganda. The JSM, a regional secular party from Jammu, demands separate Jammu State for ensuring equitable development in the region and honorable future for all communities to live in communal harmony and brotherhood. A Morcha handout said that JSM is of the firm opinion that to remove the growing regional tensions; alienation among the people of different regions and give an opportunity to each region to develop according to its needs and aspirations, the re-organization of the present J&K State is the need of the hour. It is now up to the MLA’s of Jammu province particularly of the BJP and Congress to respond to this issue and forcefully take up this demand of a separate Jammu State so as to free this region from the discrimination being meted out to the people since the last 62 years. JSM (P) asks the leadership of the BJP in particular to shed its dual and narrow communal policies that it is pursuing since the last six decades which have only adversely affected the interest of Jammu region.
