| Govt invites suggestions for new motor vehicles law | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, AUG 19: According to the Commissioner Secretary Transport Department, Government proposes to amend Jammu and Kashmir Motor Vehicles Rule 1991 by adding sub rule(3) to rule 275 of the said rules with effect from 01.09.2009. As per this amendment a Police Officer (Traffic) not below the rank of Sub-Inspector or an Officer of Motor Vehicle department not below the rank of Motor Vehicle Inspector shall be authorized to recover the towing charges in addition to the normal fine as prescribed under rules from the Drivers/owners of the abandoned, unattended vehicles removed by the Government agency as per the rates prescribed. Accordingly the towing charges for moped, scooter, M. cycle, Two wheelers and TSR will be Rs. 300/-, for Car, Jeep, Van, empty light motor vehicle and empty medium motor vehicles, the charges will be Rs. 600/- for loaded light motor vehicle, empty Trucks and Buses, the charges will be Rs. 800/- while for loaded medium motor vehicle the charges will be Rs. 1000/- and for loaded Trucks Rs. 1200/- shall be charged. All persons desirous to object the aforesaid proposed amendment shall submit their suggestions/objections in consideration to the concerned by or before 25th of August, 2009. Any objection/suggestion received after the expiry of the prescribed date shall not be entertained.
