CUAS takes out torch procession

Jammu, Aug 19: Tightening its stand on the issue, the Central University Anodal Samiti today took out a torch light procession from Geeta Bhawan even as protests and demonstrations by continued in various schools and colleges of Jammu City.
The CUAS members told Early Times that heavy Police deployment had been made outside the Geeta Bhawan to prevent procession but they defied restrictions to press the case for establishment of Central University in Jammu. The procession beginning from Geeta Bhawan passed through Rajtilak road, Purani Mandi and culminated at City Chowk. The rally was attended by around about 500 workers.
While addressing the rally Convener CUAS Paviter Singh Stated that main aim of organizing this rally was to make the people ware of the issue and he also appealed to the all organizations and people from all community to come forward and fight for this issue.
Meanwhile, Chamber of commerce and Industry during a meeting along with
representatives of Trade, Industry, Transport and Tourism has unanimously decided that the Trade and Industry is fully supporting the cause of Jammu and will be readily coordinating with the Central University Andolan Samiti. Meanwhile as per the schedule of the samiti all the government schools and colleges in all over the Jammu province were closed today.
The meeting was was held in Chamber Office under the Chairmanship of. Om Parkash Gupta, Acting President, Chamber of Commerce & Industry to discuss about the role of Trade & Industry in the on going agitation for Central University at Jammu. A large number of participants expressed their views in the matter in which it
Representatives of various Trade and Industry organisation called upon all the members of the civil society whether they belong to service class, government jobs, education or any other profession like legal profession or technical profession to come forward for contributing their might for the future of Jammu in general and their children in particular. Members while expressing their full confidence in Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that whatever directions will come from the Jammu chamber over this issue, they will abide by those directions.
Adding to it Om Parkash stated that elected representatives should be persuaded by all means to stand by the aspiration of people of Jammu and for achieving the goal of Central University at Jammu.
The speakers who expressed their views are . Harish Gosian, P. N Daftri, K.B.Mohtra, Sudesh Mahajan, C.P. Gupta, Naresh Gupta, Baljeet Singh, Parveen Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Krishan Lal Gupta, Bharat Arora, Chanderkant Dutt, Deepak Aggarwal, S.C. Gupta , Rajesh Gupta and Davinder Choudhary. . T.S.Reen Chairman Federation of Industries also spoke on the occasion.
It was further decided that the names of the members of the Coordination Committee will be finalized and announced tomorrow. Rajendra Motial, Secretary General, Sh. Anil Gupta, Secretary chaired the meeting and prominent working committee members of Chamber of Commerce & Industry were present in the meeting.
