| JMC safaikaramcharis hold meet for union election | | | Early Times Report

Jammu Municipality Corporation safaikaramcharis in a meet has unanimously decided to hold union election for different hierarchal posts. The meet was held under the chairmanship of Dev Nand Gill. Certain other decisions were also taken in the meet including 3 years tenure fixed for elections. It was also decided in the meet that those safaikaramcharis who pay Rs 20 every month for welfare fund will be eligible to cast vote. The election of safaikaramcharis is being held after 10 years. Safaikaramcharis also demanded JMC to make the election successful. Speaking on the occasion Dev Nand said that since the union is registered and is affiliated with J&K Trade union Congress therefore getting elections from time to time must be the responsibility of JMC.In the meet it was also decided that those who want to contest election must deposit Rs 1000 as security fee to the secretary JMC while code of conduct will remain intact.The date for holding elections has been fixed as 25 Sept 2009 while date of filing election papers has been fixed as 20 September.
