| Wani demands more colleges in Doda district | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22- MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani today demanded improving of educational infrastructure in the district, besides opening up of new colleges to cater to the needs of the growing number of students In his meeting with the Higher Education and School Education Ministers today, Wani said that lone degree college in Doda constituency caters 1200 pass outs from 18 higher secondary schools. All the aspiring students from far flung and backward education zones of Doda like Bhagwah Dessa, Baghla Bharath, Goha Marmat and Mohalla Gundna cannot reach Doda for higher education as such most of them remain deprived of the same. Moreover, because of social constraints, most of the female students do not seek admission in only Degree College at Doda, which is having co-education facility. He apprised the Ministers that former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, in February, 2008 had announced opening of separate degree college for women at Doda for which the land was also identified and transferred to the Higher Education Department. He regretted that no action has so far been taken in this regard which is causing great resentment among the apprising students.
