| 130 Kgs of Bhukki seized, one held | | | Early Times Report

A narcotic courier was arrested along with 130 kg poppy straw hidden in a vehicle at Batote in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police today said.
Acting on a specific information, police yesterday nabbed one Rajesh Kumar alias Chhotu, resident of Vibhutipur, district Samastipur (Bihar) who was driving the vehicle carrying 130 kgs ‘Bhukki’.
The arrested driver, with the help of his Jallandar-based owner, used to smuggle narcotics from Kashmir valley to various parts of the country, police said.
‘’They had made a special cavity in their Eicher truck (No PB 10D-9772) in which they used to carry the narcotics,’’ a police official disclosed.
On opening the cavity, poppy straw ‘Bhukki’ was found stacked in 16 bags, he added.
Police have registered an FIR under Sections 8/15 of NDPS Act and dispatched teams to Srinagar and Jallandhar for the arrest of other people involved in smuggling.
